Private RESIDENCE, HEATH DRIVE

Located in the highly desirable area of Hampstead in North London is this Grade II listed family dwelling originally designed by renowned Victorian architect Charles Quennell. Our involvement sees the full refurbishment and extension of the Neo-Georgian dwelling ensuring that at all times a sensitive approach to building conservation is taken, allowing all original features to be carefully retained, refurbished and incorporated into the design. Where alterations have been carried out previously, a new design is proposed that far better sits with the architectural language of Quennell’s original intentions, whilst still meeting the requirements for 21st Century living.

Rooms of significance such as the reception, dining rooms and entrance hall have been sensitively restored with only minor alterations proposed. The same principle applies to first floor bedrooms at all times respecting the original plan-form. Secondary areas such as the ground floor kitchen have been re-instated to original proportions. Through studying the original surviving design features in the principle rooms, a design strategy was introduced that allowed the highest level of quality of detailing to be achieved throughout.
