Ambresbury House, EPPING

Situated within a small hamlet on the edge of Epping Forest, Ambresbury House was built in two phases between 1870 and 1925, with the later providing the dominant architectural language albeit with only glimpses remaining.

Rather than re-style the property the design principles of the 1920’s have been adhered to; whilst a minimalist aesthetic and use of natural light is apparent this is achieved through historically sensitive detailing and interventions.

The introduction of well proportioned wall panelling, formal flooring and enlarged French doors give a sense of formal grandeur whilst increasing natural daylight. The historic formality is subdued through the use of a simple colour palette and sparse arrangement of modern furnishings.
